The NRD and FABA (For A Better Axtell), will sponsor a FREE tree give away on Arbor Day, Friday, April 27th from 9:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. at the Axtell Community Building. Please come pick out a tree and enjoy a cup of coffee and a cookie.
The Axtell Track & Field Invitational originally scheduled for Friday has been rescheduled to Monday, April 9 due to a less-than-ideal weather forecast. The meet will have the same 9:00 start time. This means that there will be a regularly scheduled school day for staff and students on Friday, April 6 and NO SCHOOL on Monday, April 9. FKC Quiz Bowl will still be held in Elm Creek at 4:00 on Monday, April 9. The ACS K-8 Spring Music Program is also still on for Monday, April 9
The student council is currently hosting a toiletries drive benefiting the Wilcox Food Pantry. Examples of items that can be donated are shampoo, lotion, soap, feminine hygiene products, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, laundry soap, and paper towels. We will be accepting donations until 4:00 PM on Tuesday, April 10th. A donation area has been set up in the lobby. Please consider helping those in need.
Harper Wells, a senior at Axtell Community School, has been named the winner of the Letters About Literature contest for the high school age division. Letters About Literature is a national reading and writing promotion program for children and young adults. It is sponsored by Nebraska Center for the Book, Nebraska Library Commission, Humanities Nebraska, Houchen Bindery Ltd, and Chapters Bookstore. The Windmill Housing and Development Corp. of Axtell is calling a Special Meeting on Thursday, April 12th in the City Hall at 7:00 p.m. There will be Guest speakers from Stuart, NE. and SCEDD from Holdrege.
