Preschoolers Visit Fire Station

For fire safety education, the pre-kindergarten class visited the Axtell Fire Station. Nineteen students received a tour of the station by Shawn Soderquist. Jeff Haffey showed the students what firefighters wear and even let them try on the equipment. When asked what their favorite part was, most students said, "The ride on the fire truck!" The tour was concluded when each student received his/her very own firefighter hat. Some safety tips learned include: change batteries in fire alarms, stay down low in a fire, don't hide from the fireman, and firefighters are there to help us.
