TeamMates is a one-to-one, school-based mentoring program established by Tom and Nancy Osborne in 1991. The mission of TeamMates is to positively impact the world by inspiring youth to reach their full potential through mentoring. There are over 135 local TeamMates chapters across Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Wyoming. Each chapter is a partnership between the school district, community, and TeamMates. The Axtell Board of Education voted earlier this year to explore the possibility of starting a TeamMates chapter. It is necessary to determine if there is enough community support for the program in order to proceed. Every chapter needs volunteer mentors, local board members, and some financial support.
There will be an informational meeting about the TeamMates Mentoring Program on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 3 pm in the school cafeteria. TeamMates Regional Coordinator for this area, Beth Roberts, will give a presentation on the impacts of mentoring and explain how anyone can get involved in making a difference in a child’s life.
