February Newsletter 2022

Dear Axtell Community School members,

We have had a busy month as we got to welcome everyone back from Christmas break this past month. Just a reminder that February is usually one of the months where weather becomes a big issue. We will keep communicating with you on any updates or changes. Please pay attention to social media.

Upcoming Events at ACS:

· On Monday, February 7th there is no school for students. Beginning at 1:00-8:00 we have parent teacher conferences. A reminder that you will need to set up appointments if you wish to attend or a teacher may reach out to you as well. Mr. Gregory posted a letter on our social media and website in regards to this date.

· The first week of February we have conference basketball. Good luck to both teams!

· District wrestling will be on February 11th & 12th at Maxwell. Good luck! State wrestling is February 17th-19th in Omaha.

· Girl’s district basketball is the week of February 14th at a TBD site and the Boy’s will be the following week beginning on February 21st at a TBD site as well. Best of luck!

· The week of February 21st is National FFA week. Look for more updates to come from Mrs. Grimes.

· The speech team will compete at conference on February 23rd and this event will be held virtually.

· On February 28th students will have no school for a staff in-service day and to work on our school improvement.

Please follow our social media for updates and our school calendar as things change throughout the activity season. We will keep doing our best to keep everyone updated.

Here at Axtell Community Schools, we look forward to serving our students, staff, and patrons. If you have any questions please stop in or shoot me an email at jeff.schwartz@axtellwildcats.org

Superintendent News

Dear Parents,

The Nebraska Department of Education and the Commissioner of Education is allowing school districts reasonable flexibility to make changes to their master calendar for the 2021-2022 school year. This will allow us to provide our teachers with more professional learning opportunities, along with classroom planning and preparation time due to the continued concerns over the Coronavirus.

With all that being said, Axtell Community School will not be in session on Friday, February 18th and Friday, February 25th to allow our teachers this opportunity for professional growth.

We hope you enjoy your upcoming extended weekends with your families.

Thank You,

Rob Gregory

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and we would like to encourage those parents who want to give gifts to their children to do so at home. The process of having gifts delivered to school creates a disruption in the school day and can lead to hurt feelings for many students. This applies to birthdays and special occasions as well. Thank you for your cooperation and sensitivity in this matter.
