Our first trip to National FFA is in the books! If you see Megan, Joe, Maxine, Brent, Taeylor, Cade, Jerzee or Caleb be sure to ask them about their experience, they will have so much to tell you about! Here are just a few highlights from the trip: 1. Kaleb Senff being the first Axtell FFA member to earn the American FFA Degree. 2. Touring Churchill Downs, Louisville Sluggers Museum and Factory, and Hermitage Farm. 3. Meeting so many people from across the nation and making new friends. 4. Watching extemporaneous speaking finals. 5. Attending opening session. 6. Spending time with Miss Franzen (she will be student teaching at Axtell during the spring semester). To see more pictures from the trip please check out Axtell Ag Education and FFA on Facebook A huge thank you to everyone who made this trip possible, it was and incredible experience! #AxtellFFA #Wildcatway

5th graders celebrated finishing their read aloud of “The Witches” by Roald Dahl. Their morning was filled with several fun stations! At the first station they were challenged to sort different Halloween themed figurative language cards. The second station included guessing what was REALLY inside the Bat’s Brains, Dracula’s Dentures, Ghost’s Guts, and Toad’s Tongue containers by feeling and not looking. They wrote a persuasive essay whether they think Miss Kirschenmann is a witch or not and had to include reasoning and evidence. Next, they wrote a fictional roll the dice spooky story and wrote about what Miss Kirschenmann should be for Halloween. They also challenged themselves to see how many adjectives they could come up with to describe a pumpkin and then added the words to the pumpkin. Lastly, they played a a Kahoot over the book. They also enjoyed Formula 86 Delayed Action Mouse Maker to drink, of course! They should be turning into mice tomorrow…. 🤪
